Drugasar creates a warm welcome at Elim Christian Centre, Barking

The Elim Christian Centre in Barking, Essex, is a Pentecostal Church originally built in 1931. It was an Independent Evangelical Church until 2005, when it was taken over by the Elim movement, an organisation founded by George Jeffreys in 1915. It is now a thriving centre of worship and community activity, with congregations of around 250 people every Sunday and many others using the centre during weekdays.

Since 2005, the building has undergone a major refurbishment programme, including a complete overhaul of its rather antiquated heating system. Church heating specialists Drugasar have removed all of the original cast iron radiators throughout the building and replaced them with new central heating and a range of powered flue gas wall heaters.

Elim Christian Centre is used every day of the week for services, play groups, youth clubs, prayer meetings and other functions. The heating system needs to be flexible, economical and efficient in order to meet the needs of the church and its patrons.

The selection of Drugasar ‘k’ series and ‘Diamond’ series powered flue heaters for the main church and ante rooms combines high heat outputs with quick warm up times and optimum efficiency. The heaters only need to be turned on a short time before the building is used. They are room-sealed, using air from outside the building for combustion, resulting in greater warmth and comfort for the churchgoers.

Reverend Godfrey Fearn, Senior Pastor at Elim Christian Centre has nothing but praise for Drugasar and its services. Commenting on the project he said:

‘Our people can now discard their coats and worship in much greater comfort, whilst the whole building feels much more warm and welcoming. In addition, the installation was handled with great skill and sensitivity by Drugasar’s team of engineers.’
